... When we got back the Main Street near the waterfront was packed with market stalls, food trucks and entertainers from Japan and other Pacific nations. Lots of drums and dancing. All good fun. Tomorrow will be frantic here but as we are being picked up at 6.30am we should get to the airport OK. It's been a great holiday although we didn't get to sit by the pool very much. However it's not until you exit the Theatre and board your launch for the USS Arizona Memorial, across the water from Pacific National Monument complex, which is only about 10 minutes each way. It's not until you reach the site of where the USS Arizona was torpedoed and sank that the reality of the loss of over 1,100 men onboard at the time, becomes apparent. A ...

... to view the lava flows and crater of Pele and the multitude of waterfalls throughout the big island. It was very difficult to get some decent photos of the lava flow but exciting to see. It was incredible to see the extent of the destruction but also the amazing resilience of Mother Nature to regenerate itself anew. Next stop, the bus tour part of the day, started with a trip to a black sand beach. Where the sand is lava pebbles, some with tiny green peridots ...
