... with our pie launcher. Half way through the ride I was pretty confident that I was going to have the biggest score realizing that you have to look to the edge of the screens for the "big" prizes to shoot. I was a bit humiliated finding out that I came in third - I'm sure my hits weren't all being registered. I was going to talk to the people in charge, but I couldn't find them. I will protest the score until I get official confirmation.

Left Bakersfield at 8:45 to continue on to Palm Springs. Lots of traffic going through LA but eventually we got through it. ... A desert hike, relatively flat after the first slight incline. I pondered the difference of a desert hike and realized for me it is the fact that you can see so far all around you-- this one had mountains on three sides-- and yet every so often I remind myself to not get caught up looking so far away but to keep my eyes on the ground near my feet just in case some snake be out basking in the sunshine, despite not signs indicating they are present.
