    Month 2 travel plans turned out quite differently than I originally anticipated. Before I departed I had no inention of heading to France, told myself I would visit another time. Well that thought was thrown completely out the window. I ended up spending a little over two weeks in France and enjoyed every moment. From the people I met, unique experiences and lessons learned, month 2 ended up being exactly what I needed. Let's find out what I've been up to...

    ... to see David, so head off to his queue. However, it's going to be 2 hrs in the blazing heat...couldn't do it. So linch instead. J keen for the inevitable pizza, so we decide to avoid the tourists & head off on our own. Found a market just clearing away, & checked a couple of restaurants before finding the ideal one! Pizzas were 4 euros! Not a tourist in sight either. Delicious pizzas too..

    Today was a relative boring one, due to the 5 1/2 hours we had to spend on the bus. The usual stops for toilets or lunch continued as normal. When we finally arrived at Assisi we drove past the Santa Maria deli Angeli, the church at which St. Francis started his order of Monks and eventually died. We drove for a few more minutes ...

    After leaving Cortona we slipped briefly out of Tuscany to visit nearby Assisi in the province of Perugia. Resting place for St Francis it was sombre to visit his tomb under the church there, however the rest of the town has been transformed into a religious tourist destination. What said it all was the carousel outside one of the churches that was adorned with religious motifs...note the Francescan monks in the background. ...

    ... and watched as many of the town's Uni Students graduated, with their ivy coronets and bouquets of red roses, plus lots of popping corks and cheers from Nonna and Pops all over. As we sauntered down towards the bus back to Spello, we still find ourselves amazed at the shops and the food they present. We went inside a tiny little 'deli' looking shop, decorated in early 'boar' (big in Umbria, boars are). The owner insisted we try a little 'aged boar' - a delicacy she says. Looks ...
