Having to cancel our only long weekend (and one of only a handful of even two-day weekends) in three months is the bigger let down, but Thailand giveth and Thailand taketh away. After a quick flight it was city time - suddenly feels very alien after being on beaches for a few weeks and all the traffic as we arrived in the city seemed a bit overwhelming. Checked into a cheap but cheerful guesthouse and hungry headed out for dinner to a street food restaurant established since 1957 - passed down through generations.
