... and announcements over the loudspeaker were in French, so when we got lunch in the Markt at a fairly nice restaurant, we replied to the waiter "Merci!" He laughed at us and told us that they only speak Dutch up in Bruges, so it's a good thing we figured that out pretty early. We did a little beer tasting up in that restaurant as well, getting four different local beers and passing them around.

exited the church there was a literal horde of people trying to gain entry at
the same time in an attempt to get out of the rain. Not us…time for us to
leave and get wet.
The rain didn’t last for long
and after find a temporary shelter in an alcove here and a nook and cranny
there, we were on our way again.

... return, we went the other way into the marina and had a coffee at the yacht club, and a chat to the locals, and back to the van again....

... visit randomly fell on the day of their big parade which only takes place every 5 years. Another highlight of our day in Brugge was the horse drawn carriage ride that Ky and Che took us on for a site seeing tour of the town. It was such a neat way to weave through the tiny cobbled streets and see the town.
