Austrian Alps

We woke from our kind of sleep to stunning views from the windows as the train neared Villach and the Austrian Alps. We had realised that we were close to the Rosental valley, so decided that we should have a quick explore before finding a campsite with the aim of finding some tacky Rosental souvenir. The unauspicious end of the Europe 2014 trip

A travel blog entry by michi40 on Aug 06, 2014

Ah, what a time it was - we were all set with a lovely apartment overlooking a beautiful valley, surrounded by snow mountains and a view of Lake Millstatt. First take a three stage cable driven trains up an incredibly steep slope following a hydroelectric dam pipeline, then a tiny train through a tunnel under the mountain. Lots of walks and restaurants at the top. Remnants of melting snow left here and there in hot sunny ...

Long story short - we ended up driving another 35 mins to the first campsite we had missed - arrived in the poring rain and all a little tired and annoyed. The girls had ...
