    We took the bus into Split and wandered this wonderful city, the centre of which is the still functioning remnants of the Dioclesian Palace. Instead of these 4th Century AD buildings being a separate, fenced off, conserved piece of architecture the city has just grown in and on and amongst the ancient stones.     ... here are over the top warm and inviting - they are funny and go out of their way to make you feel happy and get you to laugh. Total generalization here - but, they might be the warmest people I've ever met.
