A decent sleep for a change, getting up c 0615. Still lots of time to do ablutions, check the US midterm election results and get yesterday's blog up with a bit of email to boot.

Went down for brekkie c 0745. Lukose was upstairs. The airport crowd was too tired to ask him any stupid questions today. The restuarant was quiet with more than half the group gone. A masala omelet [with the works] was the best of the fare. Spared the semi-torture of a table with ...

... a boat to the town on Thun. The blues of the water, mountains and the sky was like nothing I had seen before and I was very quickly falling in love with the country. In Thun I met Monika and Beat who took me with them to their nephews (Mike) 2nd birthday party BBQ. First we weren't able to go inside, and then we couldn't take many nice photos because the camera kept getting wet. At one point we even claimed an umbrella that we thought had been left behind, but it turned out that it's owner had just put it down to take some photos. The castle itself was worth the effort, it was ...

Stefan sings in a choir and had choir practice after the wine tasting and had invited us to attend the concert on Friday. He had just found out that the concert was taking place in a church but we had decided to attend the concert. Found the church, enormous building and on the inside was very beautiful with lots of stained glass.
Found out this was Day of the Dead Mass and was a very elaborate ...

Reinhard had a day out organised for us. We picked up their son Nico in Zurich and set off through the mountains. What spectacular scenery - small villages on alpine meadows, glaciers, waterfalls, lakes and high passes. The first spot was called Glanus, with cafe with a view, the path up to it had stumps that had been carved into local animal shapes.
Then on to another lake where we were to walk for ...
