... seem to speak some English, but they are delighted when do don't have to - RESPECT! Yay Kate! Very warm welcomes and huge smiles seem to be the default attitude here. Although it's hot - about 30 degrees each day we were here - the city has thousands of trees and gorgeous shady squares where the temperature drops by 10 degrees and a refreshing breeze cools the happy flaneur at every turn ....oh joy and rapture ...
... to Galè beach so the kids could have a nice Ice Cream. After wandering aimlessly for about 45 minutes we found the beach. En route I was hoping to catch a glimpse of some historic buildings, maybe a little church to explore, but no, all there was (among piles of rubbish), was an endless stream of tourist villas, literally nothing else. At the beach, we encountered a shack on stilts selling all day breakfasts, English beer, and walls ice cream. We didn't stay ...
... and a sunbathe on the balcony we went to try and find these. After walking as far as the town we hadn't found any. The tide had been up, the wind was warm and we were the only ones on the beach, apart from two fishermen, it was beautiful. The rain has stopped, the sun is out. We decide to ride out on the scooter, perhaps as far as Fusceta, and visit Gordon and Kath (if they have ...
... to visit Gordon and Kath, on the motor scooter, but, the weather is too poor for a 50 mile round trip. Instead, we walk to Lidl to buy Pizza for this evening, and get thoroughly soaked in the process, when the drizzle turns to driving rain.
We manage a Skype call to Gary, Gabriel and Susana in Aberbyjan, and a call to Charlotte to wish her happy birthday.
