Photographs he had taken in Thailand, Cambodia and coastal China between 1865 and 1866, illustrated unique snapshots of what life was like back then, in the emerging era of photography. One particular set of images really stuck with me, a landscape view of the river overlooking Wat Arun taken by John Thomson in 1865 and another taken in the modern day Thailand.
