... NP. The road to get there (another part of the Great Northern HW, is rather boring although as we get further south it becomes distinctly more undulating with granite boulders and outcrops. Haven’t seen those for a while in the dominantly sandstone country of the Kimberleys.

... where there are very interesting collections/displays on meteorites/the big bang, aboriginal artefacts and desert animals, reptiles etc. Lunch called and we went to a Chinese cafe in town where they make wonderful dumplings. The women's gaol is in a building that was originally built as offices and then converted to a cell block. It is warm and insulated and although you wouldn't call the cells comfortable, the explanation of how this part of the prison ran presents a picture of a place where the women were looked after and were given opportunity to learn and develop.
