We walked around them in the afternoon and then took some amazing photos when the sun set on them On Saturday morning after a very windy night with the first spots of rain we had seen in a long time, together with quite a temperature dip, we saw our first wild Dingo before we pulled off. We called into a quirky little spot for diesel called Wycliffe Wells which is supposed to be "the Alien Capital" of Australia, where there are apparently the most UFO's spotted Later ...

At the cultural Precinct we also visited the Strehlow Research Centre and read about Carl Strehlow, who was a Lutheran missionary at Hermannsburg mission who worked for the aboriginals and with them for something like 30 years, with only two holidays away from the mission in that time. His youngest son continued his work after studying at Uni, and the legacy that they left was huge.

Our last full
day in Alice Springs. We had booked the Landcruiser in for a minor
service (oil filter, oil, etc) and after dropping that off at the mechanics we
went into Todd Mall for a very tasty breakfast at the
Red Dog Café. The car would be ready “at
some point during the day” (!) so we decided to walk the 2.5km out along
Larapinta Drive to the Araluen Cultural Precinct ...
... Maree graciously set up for us. She was not allowed to prepare anything in the kitchen so had to do all the preparation in her room. On the menu tonight were 3 salads prepared by the hotel, and, on the Barbie, prawns, lamb, chicken kabobs, steak and, finally, SNAGS!! Ro, I finally had snags on the barbie (that's sausages for all you Yanks). This was a great evening (I bought lots of beer for Susan -- yes, still making up for the wine spill) and off to ...
