I've peaked early with the drinking and eating on this trip and we haven't even boarded the ship yet. There's a lot of cafes and restaurants around Fremantle and I feel like I've been into everyone of them. I'll have to come back and spend some time exploring the streets as the buildings are lovely. We did managed to boost the economy ;)

Today we headed into Fremantle to have a look around and we couldn't go past a tour of the Fremantle Prison which is now a world Heritage site. The prison was opened in 1855 and only closed in November 1991. The prison was built using convict labour and the tour guide was excellent, it is hard to believe it was still being used in 1991. There are quite a few walks to do, but you do need to be camped out there, so you can walk early morning or late afternoon. The restaurant is good we had lunch there which was a seafood basket for $23 ea but the surprise came when we bought two Corona's at $10 ...

... day on Wednesday with some washing and reading. Thursday 2 July was a good day - my birthday. We travelled south to Greenough Historical Settlement. It is 25 k south of Geraldton near the mouth of the Greenough River. During the 1860's it became a thriving agricultural area, but the threat of a disease in the crops caused the area to slowly decline. The buildings have slowly been restored since the 1970's and some are still used - there are services ...

... Captain. It wasn't long before the wine tasting began, served by the three lovely Lady crew. Cheese and biscuits with the wine to clear the pallet. We tried 2 white and 2 red. All very nice. The cruise up river was 2 hours with blue skies and the temperature rising as the chilly wind dropped. After arriving at the Sandalford Winery we had an interesting tour and then Ito the dining room for more wine tasting. 6 wines this time, 2 white,2 red,1 rose ...
