    ... back to Port Charlotte and a lovely meal (thank you Rex and Carol) at our local Applebees.

    Our local wildlife critters seemed to hide while Rex and Carol were here, but on returning from taking them to Tampa airport, there on our lawn was LARGE Mr Tortoise and in the yard a very big Black racer snake!!!! sorry they missed them.

    ... river in downtown Bradenton - there they have the oldest Manatee in the world ,born in captivity in July 1948....just 5 months older than me. A graceful old beast, that enjoyed being handfed at meal time, while the other Manatee (being rescued and returning to the wild on recovery), fed on the lettuces thrown to them protruding out of holes cut into a long pipe. Once thrown in the water, the lettuce pipe slowly sank ...

    ... in July" day was in full swing - it was... move from one air-conditioned shop to the next....not to shop, but to enjoy their cool free air!! I had remembered a little café Barb & I had been to last year, so we stopped in for a Rueben sandwich, stuffed with layers of corn beef, Saukrat and onion- just delicious - so huge we shared 1 between us - a nice lunch.

    That's it for now folks ....from 2 sticky people!!!!

    ... Florida. And also the “Tarpon Capital of the World” with several fishing tournaments held yearly. Southwest Florida, and apparently Englewood in particular, has a variety of shells for serious shell collectors to find. Many of these shells not only arrive on the beach intact but, in some cases, still inhabited and very much alive. Many shells found on Englewood beaches are the Left Handed Whelks, ...
