Today we went to the Islands of Adventure park within the Universal Resort. What a beautiful park! Wonderful theming and just a pleasure to explore. We had a thoroughly good time there. Arrived about 830 but could only get as far as the initial area Port of Landing. So, we sat and had coffee and enjoyed the views until Marvel Comics land was open at about 845. We first tried a ride that was very similar to the old fairground waltzer but here ...

Apparently Walt Disney himself started this idea of the candlelight processional, with Christmas carols being performed for over 50 years. I would imagine that the concept has grown over the years, but it is really spectacular. With a 50 piece orchestra and a choir of over 400 voices, the celebrity narrator (tonight - Jonathon Groff of Frozen - Christoff) ...

... and we stopped for lunch, found some salad & fries but had enormous difficulty finding anything resembling a cultery dispenser. They were these vertical canisters divided into thirds with knives/forks/spoons dispensed from the bottom of each third. we finished looking around the display and then (going thru then inevitable gift shop) queued for the bus back to the visitor centre. We had been told not to miss the Atlantis display so headed in there. There ...

... booked fast pass system (which avoids having to wait in line) is working. We get through everything really quickly, even doing all those rides/shows which everyone skips such as the Hall of Presidents (a 22 min film narrated by Morgan Freeman on American presidents plus some realistic animated mannequins thrown in)! We are on a mission though - the procurement of a costume for my niece Phoebe from the film "Frozen". ...
