... not have access to this future way of giving people heat, light, and general infrastructure needed to maintain a country and keep it from the dark ages. It is essential to use propaganda and label these nations that seek it as evil and dangerous so you have a reason to prevent them from developing such vital technology for future prosperity once the planet has been bleed dry of oil. Of course you are above these labels so don't worry. If need be, implement harsh sanctions and of course ...
Uijeongbu, Korea Rep. morpheous... 1. Group Dinner
Each semester, we have at least one work gathering, which is usually good fun and enjoyable. This time we were going for lunch at VIPs, a nice restaurant featuring a wide variety of food. We were meeting at noon, the only problem being that the foreign teachers didn't know about it! I got a call from Jeunghee at 11.15am telling me about it, and luckily I wasn't busy so I was able to go with Phil (who had been fast asleep). Hew was at the ...
... What was I supposed to do the whole weekend in a mysterious land where I couldn't read any of the signs and could barely find my way out of my apartment building? So, I found food where I could. But I needed more help than that!
So, that is when I explored the neighborhood a bit. And near my house was a church. I decided to stop in and see if I could get someone to help me. "Is there anyone here who ...
Seoul, Korea Rep. b23265... was impressive, not to mention the lights show displayed on the tower. Something really nice on that place is the fence that is completely full of key locks left there by in love couples showing their love.
It was a long day, but we could visit the basic sights of every trip to this Asian Capital, it was a short visit, so a back to Seoul is necessary a modern city but also strong in culture and traditions.
We must return......
... with our friend Nate (another teacher from the Shiz who happened to be in Seoul at the same time). We walked around our area for a bit- great night market and lots of cool shops. We were in shock when we saw things like Capri Sun in a convenient store- Korea is definitely ahead of China in western goods. Nate showed us where he got some good chicken on a stick-- it was phenomenal as my brother would say, ha. We frequented the little shop a few more times throughout ...
Seoul, Korea Rep. trow814... of my stay was finding a HD tv in one of the empty gate areas, near the Caribou Coffee (?), tuned to a local professional (?) basketball game. Not only was it entertaining because each team had a few American players who blankly stared at the coaches during timeouts as they shouted in Korean at them, but one team featured one of my favorite ex-NBA and Blazer players - Ha Seung Jin ...
Seoul, Korea Rep. doovySo, first of all, both my hairdryer and my straightener don't work here! I tried them on two different outlets and neither worked. I use the same transformer (converter + adapter) for the computer and the charger for the camera charge, but of course there still exists the possibility that both my blow dryer and my brand new $200 straightener blew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So, today after work I had to buy a brand new Korean blow dryer and Korean hair straightener....good think ...
Seoul, Korea Rep. april.abate... trying to collect guests for a hotel, and told him "No, thank you!" several times and was a bit peeved when he persisted. Finally she told him she was catching the bus and that she was fine, thanks, to which he responded that in order to catch the bus, she would need a ticket. He then waved the tickets he had been trying to sell her in her face. She sheepishly bought one and said thank you.
The same man then made some comment about it being too cold, to which my mum again ...
... but the history is there. The north-western side of the defencive wall built around Seoul in the 1300s is clearly visible, running up and along the hill; to the north east, where it rises into another great hill, and to the south, dropping down into the city. Not the Great Wall, but impressive nonetheless.
On the way down I sat in the garden of an old archery pavilion and watched Korean archers fire away at targets a football field's ...
