Day 7 & 8

Our first shopping day yay!!! Today we decided to hire a car and check out the outlets, Rick's Restorations and Vegas in general. We managed to purchase all of our ski gear and lots of other bargains, even Billy went a little cray cray in Tommy Hilfiger lol!! After a big day of shopping we headed back to the motel to pack our bags for our flight to Aspen in the morning.

... from a spectators point of view, has been excellent and augurs well for a very successful World Championships in Feb 2015.

There was a local Aussie interest today as Luc Henri Chevalier (Chevy) was in the field. Chevy is a local boy from our way whose family moved to Colorado when he was a teenager so that he could attend the Vail Ski Academy and therefore pursue his dream of being a regular on the World Cup circuit. Back to do it all again! Men's Super G on the difficult Birds of Prey Course at Beaver Creek.

Super G is like downhill but with a few more gates that the skier has to pass through. Unlike downhill though they do not get any training runs on the actual course only a course inspection an hour or so before the start time. This adds to the challenge for the skier and excitement for the spectators as sometimes it all goes horribly ...

We have travelled a long way to see this Blue Ribbon event on the World Cup Alpine Skiing Calendar. It has been much anticipated in our household for some months. Knowing that this is the final hit out for the athletes on the Birds of Prey course before the 2015 World Championships we knew the world's best would be here and we certainly have not been disappointed.

... of very nice and expensive restaurants but not too many casual eating establishments. The Coyote Cafe is a stones throw from the Centennial lift at the base of the mountain. Mexican/burger standards along with an impressive array of beers. The service is quick and efficient. In the background you see a continuous reel of videos of extreme skiing. They are interesting to watch but make me feel rather inadequate as a skier! We have had dinner the last two nights at ...
