The road made its way up through a few old and wonderful streets of ancient Italian towns which certainly made it interesting but eventually there was a barrier across the road with a notice on it saying "Road closed, trespassers will be fined" and so it was back down the way I had just come all the way to Bormio.

John's sister Angela was there, with 6 out of her 8 kids, some of their partners and some of their kids! Some of them work at the restaurant, and some just joined us for lunch. Johns brother Julio also came. As you can imagine its hard to remember all the names! We had a great lunch, then sat outside ...

... more mechanized than an American one. It's getting late as I reach Bolzano. The train passes through a large industrial area, and then the train drops me off in front of a couple austere Mussolini era buildings and statues. Definitely doesn't feel like the Alps here. I check in to a hostel, chat a bit with my roommate, an American from Idaho who somehow landed a gig caretaking for a farm in Tuscany! Right now he's ...
