... by their noodles wrapped around their underarms floating for a long time..... chatting and enjoying their way of keeping cool. The little fish were there, and nibbling on our feet and ankles while in the water - a strange sensation, but not painful.

... so it's about NZ$1.22 ltr which is quite a help on a long trip! About half NZ prices. Diesel is dearer than petrol but I don't think they have road user charges for mileage.

Most groceries are quite a bit less at Walmart etc. I spotted some lamb 'shoulder spare ribs' which looked like boned out shoulder cut into strips, and was $12 for 2 lbs = NZ$7.26/kg. There is hardly any lamb on offer.
Beef, the main meat offering is about the same price as at home. Cooked chooks ...

... tweeting at 0530!!!!!!???!!! Breakfast came courtesy of "The Island Cow" which was a diner type place at the side of the road and the fact that the carpark was rammed made us think it would be a good choice. It was!! We had a great breakfast/lunch , then back in the car to head for Captiva which was further down the island. Wow!! The houses along the road down were amazing!!!!!! Huge,colonial style,white house style,beach shack/mansion style. ...
