Monday, July 6, 2015. PCT day 78 miles 1189.2-1198 Today is a nero day. I slept in until 06:30 and left camp by 0730. The trail was all downhill, 8.5 miles into Sierra City, which is at 4200 feet elevation. It definitely felt warmer/hotter down here. I arrived here by 11:30ish. The small town is only about a mile from the trail. I set up camp by the local church. I had my cold shower ...

... is that the water sources are getting more far apart. Leaving Sierra City, the PCTA.org has a water report for the next 500 miles. Gotta be water conscious again like in the desert. The trail was less crowded today and I was happy about that. The July 4th crowd vanished or was perhaps hung over. Not many PCTers either. They were probably hungover too or in food coma from the July 4th parties. Many PCTers made it a point to be in town to party. I was done by 7pm ...

... lightning. On another note, I can see now where this thru-hike is beginning to be a mental challenge. I am definitely starting to feel the mental taxation. And I am not even half way done. I am not the only one feeling this. I've been talking to other hikers, and they are feeling it too. They say it's the Northern CA blues. We still have about 600 miles left before we are done with CA. Oh boy!! God give me the mental fortitude. Tomorrow I will do another 25 mile ...

... huge portions of the free hot breakfast. MC Hobo and his wife (I can't remember her name), dropped me off at the trail and Echo Lake at 0930. We said our goodbyes. I hope I see MC Hobo again. He is a nice old fella, very down to earth and humble. Heading out, my intent was to do 20 miles. My bag was heavier with food than expected. I had more food than I needed for this 5 day stretch to Sierra City. The reason for this fact is that Jonathan Spoon sent me a ...

... come in off trail. After a mongolian buffet and ice cream sandwiches we made our way to the lake to check out the sunset. On our way down we crossed paths with a huge black bear making its way through town sniffing round the bins. It was an absolute beast and stunned me for a few seconds. However it was only interested in food and let us be. After the lake, we parted ways with Sierra and Tigerlily and got ready to head back on trail. I jumped ahead ...
