On the city tour we first visited the famous Ibirapuera park. This park was designed by world renowned Brazilian architect, Oscar Niemeyer, who, very sadly, passed away the day we arrived to Sao Paulo. He was 104 years old! His edifices are staples of modern architecture.

... We've done a free city tour where we got our own special guide because we can only speak English. That took us through the Luz area; Train station (which was built using only materials imported from England), the park (where we saw a sloth) and an arts museum. It was about this time that I really noticed two mosquito bites on my ankles that have now swollen up. I guess my body doesn't like what these Brazilian mozzies are packing - luckily they are pretty much gone ...
