... We started around 10am I believe; once I had picked up Jess, Beccy, their friend Carl and the dog Bentley. The start seemed to go well. It was freezing at the start of the hike and by lake 1, I was concerned for how much we might actually freeze up the top! The ground seemed to be in ok shape with a little bit of soft snow covering the trail. After a while, we noticed some patches of ice here and there, but were easily enough to pass on the side.
