    Looking back on our last full week in France, we are very glad that we booked the beachside accommodation at Quend plage for our last long stay. Amidst our two long day trips we had a few shorter excursions close to home and lots of beach time.

    Today we drove south to the town of Ypres which was almost totally destroyed in WW1. It is the site of the Mennen Gate War memorial that was developed by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
