... was all atwitter about showing us Telluride. We had a quick refreshment and set off for Mountain Village. We walked to a gondola ride station and boarded a gondola system for Telluride. This is a feeder/commuter system for getting skiers from outlying communities to Telluride for skiing and shopping. It’s the first FREE transit system of its kind in the US.

... was that there was a concurrent Iron Horse bike race; leaving Durango at the same time as the train. The cyclists then took the highway to Silverton, trying to beat the train. The fastest cyclist got there in a little over 2 hours (again, the train took about 3 1/2), but there were lots of cyclists still coming in during our two hours in Silverton.
