Malaga

After days at sea we had a short stop in Malaga before docking the next day back in Savona. I have decided that I am not crazy about the days at sea. Even though I really enjoyed all the ports, I don't think I would do anther big curise. The fact that there were only small number of people who spoke enlgish on the ship was interesting. So wanted to speak another language .. any lanaugage. Even when I told the Germans I did nto speak Germann they kept talking!

Relaxing for Noma, Casino for Mark

... winning again, 900 euro to be exact) or playing golf. Perfect!

One of our day´s we drove to Gibraltar, which is only about 1.5 hours drive away, but actually a part of England(?). I absolutely loved it, not because of the English-ness (Marks and Sparks, etc) but because of the MONKEYS!! I LOVE MONKEYS!! We drove up the side of the "rock" and visited a cave (pretty cool, but nowhere near as good as the ones down south ...

Accion de Gracias

... was when I called my grandparents in Florida. They were hosting my uncle, cousins, and Melanie and that my grandma had to get off the phone so she could put the turkey in the oven. For a moment I felt like I was there with them. Other than that it is sad missing out on such a great day but I took it pretty well. I am enjoying Spain too much to be all that sad. It was fun talking to my grandma. She told me that she saw my belly ...

Highlights from Malaga

Malaga is the major city near Frigiliana (where the train dropped us off). We spent a day there when we picked up Jaime and Rob at the train station. Some highlights:

  • Watching Jaime and Rob come off the train and meet us in Spain
  • The Picasso Museum – a wonderful ...

Tonight

A couple of days ago I was talking with a friend of mine who is from England but is living in Malaga now. He told me that one time in a restaurant the waiter asked how the meal was and he told the waiter that it wasn't that good. He told me that normally the British will just sit there with an unhappy look on their face and never say anything. He got the meal for free. Today I met two really cool people from Seville, Alejandro (Alex) and ...

Hung over again

... ill but it was cheap and filled us up.

We went to a place called Montys bar where they had a live act on we thought it was going to be really cheesy but it turned out to be ok. Steve the man who was playing was really good and played lots of old classics man rock songs so Ian liked it and I enjoyed it to. We then stagered back to our room around midnight a little drunk again. Looks like we are fitting right in with this holiday.

... was very tasty and I feel better that I can at least eat again without being so paranoid about where the food has been stored all day. We had met an english lady on the train that was so ill by the food in morroco that i felt really glad and relieved that we had come off so lucky.

Ian was feeling much better as well thankfully and we go on the bus to our final place the Costa Del Sol rodney! It was a ...

... promenade in benalmadena which is the name of the town we are staying in. there are actually 3 cities in a row that start 'la costa del sol' they are torremolinos, benalmadena and fuengirola. the promenade begins/ends? in benalmadena and goes through torremolinos. All along the promenade are restaurants, pubs, shops selling souvenirs and of course the beach; the beaches are topless if you so desire. benalmadena is mostly made up of british expats and tourists who pop ...

Malaga City Tour

After breakfast and nice stroll on the beach, we head out to see the next city in the list which was Malaga. Malaga is very big compare to its size on the map :)
The trick is to head out to the old part of town to see the actions. Lots of architectures are dated back few years.
Cathedral as like the other places, is a must see in the old city. Small cobble stone alleys make it very nice and easy for walk.
The best ...

Day 7: September 11th

... the moment class was dismissed. That's the worst it's been, and I certainly don't intend to let it get any worse than that. Anyway we talked about some interesting things in class despite all that; we discussed those little things about culture that you always know are there but never really itemize: hygiene, sleeping and eating patterns, driving, etc. It was interesting to really break apart those aspects of my own culture and discuss them in relation to everyone ...
