... pleasure just to sit by the side of one of these lakes and observe the natural beauty of the Bavaria region. We then headed further west to a small town called Oberammergau. The train journey between these towns is one of the most scenic train rides I've been on (Zurich to Milan was another one that comes to mind). ... was the location of the 72 Olympics where 11 Israeli athletes were taken hostage by the group Black September. We were able to walk around the complex and go up to the top of the tower. Once there we could see the actual apartment building where everything took place. The apartments are now housing for locals. Although a very sad occurrence this did not bum us out like the previous experiences. Maybe we were riding the high of the BMW museum! ...

Munich Day 3 - Castles

... was pretty quick. After lunch, we started the uphill climb along the path toward the castle. The walk was estimated to take around 40 mins, but we managed to speed walk it up in about 25mins. We headed a little further north on the trail to Marienbrucke (Mary's Bridge).

The bridge was packed with people trying to get a good photo of the castle. I think it took us at least 5 mins just to push our way through ...

We are sitting on the plane flying home from our big adventure. Thinking back a year ago when we jokingly said that we were going to take a trip to see 5.5 things to celebrate that we had both reached 50 :) and at least one of 55...hold your comments. Then we really said, why not and got down to planning. We planned our land cruise to see five countries, England, France, Italy, Austria, and Germany. We were going to do it on our own with a backpack and a fifteen inch suitcase. ...
