We pushed our way past all the tuk tuk drivers as trying to get on the boat as we got off. Luckily we had a driver booked so we hopped straight in our taxi to the hotel.
Frangipangi hotel was nice, modern and clean but quite a way out of the centre, we had to get a tuk tuk every time we went out.
The first night we took a tuk tuk to 'Friends restaurant' where the staff are all street kids being re-trained. The tuk tuk drivers English and sense of direction wasn't too good and we ended...
After a six hour bus ride, Asia and I made it to our hotel in Cambodia safely. The Frangipani Villa 90's are situated in a residential area in the central Cambodian city of Phnom Penh. They strive to be green, are "strictly against sex tourism." and claim to contribute a portion of the cost of your stay to support orphaned children. Their eco-friendliness and support of a healthy community is what sold us and made us choose this place over another with a pool closer to the night life and tour...

We did the obligatory checks to see whether something was on the lens (there wasn’t) or whether there was a reflection off something (nope – we were surrounded by dark, rough, wood and were in a dark corner) but we couldn’t explain it. Check out the uploaded photos to see what you think…

After the prison, we went to ...

A couple of them even tried to half-smile, though it looked more like a smile from terror, or confusion about what they were expected to do. Their eyes pleading. I had to look away again. I can still see their sad, adorable faces.

More pictures showed the prisoners shackled to their beds, unable to move for months, soiled, starving skeletons while a ...

It all seemed really sketchy and Luke made the point that he had never been in a such a situation that was so conducive to getting robbed . Being miles out of town and away from civilization, high powered weapons, and people that we didn’t know we all ingredients for it. We put our trust in good ol Mr. Camera. On the way out we were shown a menu that showed all of the different ...
Phnom Penh, Cambodia tex25... expecting to have anything close to a nightlife here let alone people to talk to in English and compare stories with about adapting to Cambodian culture. So Scott arranged a dinner for me to meet them at a restaurant by Sara's house, a place that had a large cauldron in the middle of the table to cook your own bits of steak and veggies with a large pint of cold beer to go with it, fantastic. The Aussies are a pretty laid back bunch though that should not to be mistaken for ...

Phnom Penh, Cambodia stilllooking... the Khmer Rouge regime. It was a harrowing but educational experience looking at the cells, torture beds, torture instruments, skulls and photos of victims, some quite graphic. The prison rules sign summed up life for the inmates. Worryingly it seems most of the bad guys went unpunished; usually pleading ignorance combined with a population that wanted to move on helped them get off the hook ...
