          ... for a cuppa one afternoon.

          One day we went for a walk to the small town inland. We were trying to find some old caves but we didn't discover them. Instead we kept walking and found a 'menagerie' of animals alongside the road kept by a local. There were donkeys, a mule, an ostrich, partridges and Shetland ponies. We continued back to the boat and left next day for our first stop on Crete at Sitia.

          We then had to squeeze ourselves through steep rocks into the hidden anchorage of Tristoma where the water was so clear we could see 20m to the bottom and so still it was like gliding.
          The almost deserted and ruined village at the head of the inlet had only one elderly Greek lady and one not quite so elderly gentleman living there in quite desolate conditions. They had sheep for company ...
