Historical Traveler Reviews Sunlake Resort Kissimmee
Sunlake Resort is Awesome
We stayed in a 3 bedroom, 2 bath condo. It was great for our family of five. The condo decorations were up to date and very tasteful. There were plenty of closet and storage space most of which we didn't need or use as there was plenty of dressers to put clothes in. The beds were very comfortable and a delight to sleep in after a long day at the Disney parks. The location was ideal. Plenty of shopping and eating establishments to choose from. Found that the grocery stores were very expensive. Traffic on 192 was heavy in the mornings when everyone was going to the parks. Make sure you plan for this. Other reviews indicated it was difficult to find the lock box to retrieve the rooms keys after hours. I would agree. We tried to find it at night. A helpful hint for everyone is that the lock box is on the side of the building facing 192. We booked the room online and really didn't have much interaction with 'real' people'. The few times that we did we were not overly impressed. Not once were we asked how our stay was going, it seemed like we were bothering them. Upon checkout we were not asked how our stay was. Only one complaint about the room. The washing machine and dryer are very noisy. Ours was near the room with the 2 single beds which we had our daughters in and they complained about the noise. Would we stay here again. ABSOLUTELY. For the price it was exceptional.
We stayed at sunlake Resort in early April /06. We stayed in a 3 bedroom condo, which was very nicely decorated. It has all the essential things you need as far as your kitchen needs...pots pans utensils plates glasses coffee maker toaster fridge microwave. But you have to bring all your food...coffee sugar anything you need like that. One thing you also may need more of is toilet paper. They supply a bit at first but if you are staying a while you mkay need more...this place is a do it yourself rental..they do not come back to check on anything or clean anything up until you leave, which is fine. It's like l;iving in your own home away from home. The condo is very big. We had 4 adults and 3 kids. There was plenty of room. If there are 2 or more families sharing the cost this is the way to go...and much nicer than some hotels. Plus with the kitchen you save $ on meals. We ate in alot of the time for breakfast and a few nights too. The pool was heated and clean, there is an exercise area and pool tables too. They are in the process of building some more units and I thought we would hear alot of noise, but we didn't! Each condo backs on to a pond area and it is set back in away from all the traffic and noise of I-92. It was easy to get around and not far at all from Disney! Lots of restaurants in the area and a few grocery stores too. We found that Walmart carried alot of Disney stuff for alot less.. Parks charge$$$ and you can get it at walmrt for less, and while you are there grab your groceries and keep the empty bags for your trash can.(they don't supply those either). We had a great time in a VERY Nice condo and I would definetly stay there again.
We just returned from the Sunlake Condomiuniums in Kissimmee and the accommadations were magnificent. We stayed in a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom condo. It was clean, well kept and decor and furnishings were up to date. The locations is 10 minutes or less to Disney and close to many restaurants and shops. The resort does not offer many activities, but there are many within the vicinity. Plenty of space and towels, yet limited soap and toilet tissue which was a small price to pay based on such luxurious accommodations.
The location is a bit tricky to find, so it is recommended to follow directions as given by the resort.
I would stay at this resoet over and over again
Highly recommended place to stay in Orlando
We were extremely satisfied with our stay at Sunlake. We rented a 3 bedroom condo with 2 baths. We had 4 adults and 2 children and there was more than enough room for all of us. The condo was nicely decorated, spacious, clean, close to everywhere we wanted to visit and well stocked with anything we needed. The children especially enjoyed the heated outdoor swimming pool and hot tub. It was great to have a washer and dryer right in our condo, too. Although we did not use the facility, there was also a nice fitness room as well.
As others have commented on, the check in process left a little to be desired. I had called before arriving and was instructed to come immediately upon arriving in Orlando. They had told me that if the room was ready, they would allow us to check in early, and if not, they would take my cell phone number and would make it priority to have it be on the top of the list to have cleaned. We arrived at noon, and the room was not cleaned. Two hours later, we went back to check and it still had not been cleaned. We went back a second time at 3:30 and it still was not ready! So, we still were unable to check in until 4pm.
Overall, however, we were very happy with our decision to stay at SunLake Resort. We will definately stay there again on our next trip to Orlando.
Great, convenient, accommodations
This is a very nice place. Several have commented on difficulty finding it, but the directions we received were accurate and precise. Go south on I-4, turn west on 192 (Orlo Bronson) and go about four miles. You will turn left on the street between TGI Friday's and Cracker Barrel. The rental office, where you pick up the keys, is next to TGI Friday's (office called something like Orlando Magic Vacations).
The condo makes a nice first impression when you first walk in. The place is attractively decorated with quality furniture, two TV's, DVD/VCR players, etc. One nice touch is that they include the instruction manual for any of the electronic equipment (including the clock radios) in case you need to look something up.
We rented a condo with three bedrooms and two baths, and each room was quite spacious. The accommodations were spotlessly clean when we arrived. We're quite sensitive to smoke, and there wasn't a hint of stale smoky air anywhere.
The kitchen is fully stocked and we cooked several meals while we were here. A nice supermarket is nearby (close to the aforementioned TGI Fridays). There is a trash compactor near the entrance to the complex, and that's where you take your trash.
When we were ready to leave, we were told only to empty the trash. We didn't need to clean the towels, dishes, or anything else. Nice. We enjoyed having a washer/dryer during our stay.
Our only complaint was check-in procedures. My wife called them three or four times to get specific information on when we could check in. We were told that we had to arrive between 1:00 and 4:00, which was quite inconvenient. We were at Universal Studios with kids, so we had to split up, leave the kids there with supervision, return to the condo to get the keys, then return to the park. But apparently our instructions were wrong. You can't check in before 4:00, even though the office closes at 4:00. YOu are apparently supposed to get the keys through some kind of lockbox system, but that wasn't clearly explained. Once we got over the check-in difficulties, everything was great.
The location truly is only about two miles from an entrance to Disney World. There are also plenty of restaurants, souvenir shops, and other services nearby.
Great place to stay
Just went to Sunlake resort Dec 1st - 4th. We stayed in a 3 bedroom, 2 bath villa. Everything about this villa was perfect. My family and I had a wonderful visit and I would stay here again. Loved having a washer and dryer and the kitchen was wonderful. The office was hard to find. It is located in the shopping center next to the resort beside TGIF.
I was a little skeptical too b/c of the price and we booked a 3 bedroom condo. When we got there, for free we were upgraded to a 4 bedroom condo and it was absolutely beautiful...gorgeous furnishings and top notch electronics, kitchen was beautiful and well stocked with cooking supplies....great porch and scenery of woods, jacuzzi tub was great....immaculately clean and decorated top notch..master bedroom had 4 poster bed, the kids stayed in a room with a mural of mickey and minnie on the walls...it was truly beautiful...we are going back again two more times before the end of the year and staying there again....
Loved It !!!!!
My husband got lost, and after about an hour of driving around, we finally found the Condos ... we were 10 minutes away from them by the way, we just kept missing the road. By this time my husband was convinced that there was no "Sunlake Resort" and if there was such a place, it was probably a dump!!! Imagine his surprise when we opened the door, it was simply beautiful, I was thoroughly impressed. We all were. My husband, myself and our three boys spent a wondeful week enjoying Orlando, in the comfort of our beautiful fully furnished Condo, we plan to return again real soon.
Made Our Vacation!
Stayed here for 7 days! Did not know what to expect with because the price for the rental seemed cheap compared to what were were being offered. As a previous reviewer stated our jaws dropped when we opened the front door and entered into a large two roomed condominium with lounge and family rooms completed with first class furnishings. Located a genuine two miles from Disney and near shops, restuarants and I-4, the accommodation at Sunlake was the icing on the cake of a great vacation! Will definitely return here again!
Loved Sunlake Resort
I stayed at the sunlake resort in February. At first, I had my doubts about the place because the price was so cheap. Once I got there and opened the front door, my jaw dropped. It was so nice inside. I would without a doubt, stay there again!

Up early this morning to head to Disneyland. First off we went to Epcot, which there was not much there so we then caught the Monorail to Magic Kingdom. Went on most rides and then sat down and enjoyed some lunch at the cafe. After lunch we enjoyed some more rides and the day flew by. I had stuffed up our fast passes so was lucky they had given us hand written one so we could use more than one in the hour which worked out great for us and we could keep using Them on the same ...
... Ted and I decided we would only go for one day at a cost of $99.00 plus tax each. Reese and family decided to go 2 days and so they paid substantially more. After this was accomplished we had a potty stop before boarding the monorail that takes guests over to the island that Disney World is on. We had to stand the whole way and made a few stops at Disney Hotels along the route. When we finally arrived to the park, we had to wait to get bags and the cooler ...
Weather: Very Hot and Humid - approximately 110F = 43 degrees Celsius
Hopped on bus shuttle to Magic Kingdom at 8.15am - Gates not opened until 9.00am.
Welcomed by all Disney characters arriving by train. Our first Fast Pass (in which we organised prior to leaving) was Splash Mountain at 9.05am. Decided to hop onto Big Thunder Mountain Railroad roller coaster as not a line then headed to Splash Mountain roller coaster ...
... stumbled across 'The Friars Nook' which was a cafe which sold cookies and hot chocolate so thats just what I bought myself, Jakey bought himself a cookie and a fanta after we checked that they didn't have any nuts in them. The first ride we went on was Aerial the little mermaids ride which was a slow moving animation ride that we sat inside big shell carriages to go around the ride which we both thought was really cool. I was really impressed with how good the figures were of aerial ...
We really slept in today! We didn't get to the park until noon...oops. Our day started out with a nice ride on The Great Movie Ride. What a classic! Then it was lunch at 50's Prime Time. This is one of those places where they tease you and treat you like a sibling. When they called us for our table, we were the "Criner kids". Our waitress was sister Megan. Just as we got seated, Terry realized his "spill proof" mug was in fact, not ...
