Italian leather... a girl's best friend

... loved. The price was a little high, so I left and looked around a little more, then decided on the highest price I would pay for the purse that I had wanted. I went back and offered, but they said they couldn’t go that low, but countered with a price only 5 euros more than I had wanted to spend- SOLD. Ok I know I said that’s as high as I wanted to go, but 5 euros more isn’t much, and it was Italian leather, made in Florence, and a ...

Thanksgiving

... Cranberry Sauce, Stuffing, Potatoes, and Mixed Vegetables. For dessert pumpkin pie, ice cream, and apple cider! It was nice to spend the night with classmates and a few professors.

Friday night, we had yet another Thanksgiving with all of my friends. Everyone prepared their favorite dish and we spent the night telling stories of our families Thanksgivings.

Florence... art and leather

... food in Italy so far! Amazing!
Finished off with a gelati from Vivoli.

Walked up to Michaelangelo Square for awesome views right across Florence which is a pretty flat city and then over to Ponte Vechio.

Wednesday checked out Academia, the highlight of which was Michaelangelo's David which is a lot more amazing and stunning in real life than pictures or the copies littered about the city.
There was also a Robert ...

Cooking Class

Hi Everyone!

After an exhausting weekend in Brussels, I was in for yet another treat with cooking classes in Florence. Organized by my school, a group of us met with a chef for some lessons.

We were taught how to prepare typical Tuscan cuisine including Ribollita and Stuffed zucchini-flowers.

Everything was delicious & I look forward to trying these recipes at home!

all coming together...

Hi Everyone!

Since I last wrote I have done a lot for school and the whole apartment situation.

Orientation had continued and I'm not exaggerating the steepness of this hill to the Polimoda. It is so intense but I’m finally starting to get used to it. Polimoda is in a public park so it is a nice walk with lots of runners on the trails throughout. We had a member of the consulate come in to orientation ...

EuroTraveler Studies the Masters Uffizi/Florence

... the prominent members surround you and it's at this point you begin your tour and understand just how influential this family was in Florence of the day.

After surrendering your ticket, you begin in the 13th century Gothic art rooms. Like the Vatican, the Uffizi too has quite a collection of this fascinating two-dimensional artistic style of painting that features prolific amounts of gold throughout the works. Lacking ...

Holiday in Italy

... of Florence. Angela went and read while she waited for me. After making it back down we had lunch and some gelato. So far Florence gets the award for best presentation. The shops display it in big mounds with fresh fruit, etc on top. Then we wandered down the river towards Piazza Michelangelo. About halfway there it started raining and was rainy/drizzly for the rest of the day though it was ...

Pizza, Gelato, and a Sunny Day

... to be my favorite place in Italy. It is a large bridge with really expensive gold and leather
shops on it. Since we had such a nice day the views from the bridge were breathtaking and great for photography. Those who wanted to see David (the real one) did not go on the walking tour and our tour manager told them a technique to sneak in the exit which a few people
managed to do. Otherwise the line is over 2 hours and almost impossible to get in without a reservation ...

Florence - So much history

... freedom and creativity. David is alert and ready with sling in his left hand, concealed behind his back and rock partially hidden in his right. What struck me was the sheer larger than life size of the sculpture, its trueness and the detail of its finish. Even if you're not an art buff, don't miss this. I spent the remainder of the day wandering Florence's the narrow streets and alleyways and eating Pizza and Gelato. Florence is certainly worth a visit.
