Today we knew exactly what we wanted to do....drive Independence Pass!! Sarah and Josh had told us how awesome it was so we just had to find out for ourselves!

Independence Pass is only open in the summer so would be closed soon...if you look it up I'm sure it will show you the route but it basically takes you down through Minturn, then through Leadville (the highest city in ...

... enjoy the offer...we picked a restaurant up in Beaver Creek called Golden Eagle Inn which you could pick 2 courses for that price. I had Chicken confit with apple butter and Darren had Elk Meatloaf, then we had a Palisade peach pavlova and Profiteroles to share. It was so delicious....they also gave us homemade sourdough bread with a butter that had been mixed with paprika and other herbs!! What a treat!

Well please keep your comments rolling on, it is great and I hope that the travel pod will inspire you all to get on the road.

Aspen reminded me a bit of Banff, cute little ski/snowboard town with lots of hikes in the summer.

Unfortunately, I did not realize how high up Aspen is (2400m above sea level) and once we started our hike at Maroon Bells, I felt quite dizzy and tired. Turns out I must have had some sort of altitude sickness at 3000m above sea level... That happened on our hike in Santa Fe as well.. well, now I know :)

I recovered quickly and finished the hike at least...

Wednesday, August 5 We've done some sightseeing this week when we weren't laying around at the campground. We rode to Crested Butte one day and Buena Vista a couple of times--they have a Walmart! Today, our motorcycle ride took us on a 15 mile butt-jarring ride to a small fishing lake higher up the mountains. It was a bumpy ride, but beautiful. We rode beside a rushing stream ...
