... One guy even had a Human Kinetics book out making sure he was doing things right!
The weather cooperated until we were finished and then the rain came down at Sand Beach. We caught the bus back to Jordan Pond and had the popovers and lemonade one last time.
We really had a great time visiting Acadia National Park. If you haven't been hopefully you can put it on your bucket list.
Time to move on to ...

... the bay area here with some accessible to walk to during low tide. We hit Park Loop Rd and saw the major attractions. Blake was looking most forward to Thunder Hole, a cove in the granite where waves crash straight into the air during high tide and makes thunderous boom. We didn’t time it well enough so there wasn’t much going on when we walked down to see it. I imagine during a storm or a really high tide it would be crazy there as the waves splash over the rock. After the tour, we took the tender boat (Bar Harbor itself doesn't have a cruise ship terminal so we're anchored in the bay)back to town to walk down Main Street and do some shopping. It had more stores than I expected for a small town but I suppose with cruise ships arriving all summer and fall, they can do a very good business. It was agan a beautiful sunny day with temps around 18-20 degrees.

... are other walking trails in this portion of the park. I started on the Ship Harbor walk, but the sign a little ways in said "Now entering the back country" and had no indication of how long the trail was. Being by myself, I turned around as I was not prepared for back country hiking! You do drive across a natural seawall if you enter off route 102A and it is a very pretty area and probably a nice place to watch ...

... one of the carriage paths it really is beautiful in this part of the world. There are some amazing walks, it was a bit of a pity with the weather and we felt limited with the kids. Something we can do later in life.
