      Last Nights in Crete :(

A travel blog entry by tanya.lesiuk on Oct 13, 2014

... here has been unmatched to the month I spent on mainland Greece. There is so much in Crete to understand and unless you are willing to dig dipper to find the information which will aid in your understanding then you will be lost. From what I've see, the Greeks are hard nuts to crack, or maybe it's my nut that needs cracking, if that makes any sense at all. The more I sink into the Greek lifestyle the easier it is to gain understanding but let me say that becoming ...

      Accidents Happen

... if I really think about what could have happened it doesn't sound so funny. The poor Albania guy who decided to stop his bike and start chatting me up, he must have noticed I was not in the state for too much conversation because not long after a small excursion to one of the beautiful look out points I remember arriving safely at my hotel, I do however have no recollection of telling him where I was staying. Inner Thoughts

... It's as if I'm pursing someone who I can't fully have, maybe not just now but probably forever. A game of constant flirting back and forth that will never develop into something more even if you've had significant moments that have brought you closer. This is my relationship with Greece. In the only way I can remotely describe it and probably still one that may make no sense to anyone out ...

This one time a fisherman told me he was a doctor

... coughing and sniffing because I’m still sick. He says to me “sick?" I explain to him that I've been sick for about 10 days now, he tells me "you must drink rakki (sp?) make better. I take you.” We hop back in his car and he drives me down the road a little ways. We pull up to this house and there is an older gentleman drinking espresso while a woman is peeling potatoes, all three start talking in Greek, using hand gestures and all I can pick up is, ...

      A quick stop

... it is very windy and very rough. Tender boats are needed here and if they say it is unsafe no one will be allowed to leave the ship. Unfortunately this proves to be the case. They allowed disembarking passengers off but those who were only visiting briefly had to stay on board. The upper decks were crowded and the wind fierce for the offshore photo shoots. There will be many upswept / wind tousled records of this moment ...
