... people gyrated (I suppose it was dancing?) in colourful costumes – or rather accessories! All to celebrate the end of the sugar cane harvest and the success of the rum production!
On one day we hired a car and explored the island – marvelling at the ferocious seas of the Atlantic at Animal Flower caves and Bathsheba compared to our gently lapping, clear, warm, blue waters on the west coast ...
... in front of them, others staff members trying to use their benefits but falling short. The customer service of the AA representatives was horrendous enough to be worthy of its own blog, but it's not one I feel like writing right now. We were all trying different options. We thought about trying from different airlines - everything is full. Different islands, everything is full. We even thought ...
Rockley, Barbados kilgiraffeThis is my third day trying to get out of the island on standby. I was 38/47 on the list earlier. So many families of staff members using their tickets for holiday.. It's insanity. It seems to be impossible to get out of the Caribbean right now! Hopefully I'll figure out something soon, otherwise I may have to cancel parts of my itinerary.. :(
Rockley, Barbados kilgiraffe... and Barbadian milk.
Then we headed to the beach - our main activity for the day. The beach is right across a narrow but busy main road from the apartment. It is the most perfect beach that I've ever swum at -- white sand, perfect-temperature turquoise water, hammocky shade trees... it was completely blissful. We had several rounds of soaking and floating in the gorgeous water, rolling over the waves alternated with laying out on a towel in the shade ...
... The island is so beautiful with all of its tropical exotic trees and colours. One could stay here forever.
We were then driven through Holetown, where the island's first settlers landed in 1627. Upon our return, we passed in front of numerous luxury hotels and houses.
The island is purely marvelous. Our short stay here provided us with lots of memories that we will cherish forever.
Thankful for scenic drives.

... huge sea turtles swimming one next to the other one in their environment. What a beautiful scene! Too bad I couln't take any pictures, my camera not being waterproof. Small coloured fishes could also be seen next to some huge yellow angelfish. Here I was, in the Caribbean Sea snorkeling. I was this little (well not so little) fish swimming in this huge aquarium. It was a dream come true. It was magic ...
Tschau
Bridgetown, Barbados matt13... This place is an amazing oasis of greenery in the middle of suburbia where you might be convinced you were hundreds of miles from the city. There has been real forethought in creating this reserve of original bushland. We then took the No. 11 bus into Bridgetown to visit the Pelican Craft Centre. Unfortunately being Sunday most of the stalls were closed but a few interesting souvenirs were bought. It was then back to the Resort for a quiet night of packing and trying to ...
Barbados, Barbados robliz... surfing, going to the beach, eating, sleeping, going out, and not doing that much work because i don't want to remember what the library in barbados looked like. but now it's close to exams so i guess i'll have to start studying. oh well. happy early thanksgiving to everyone, sorry for not updating in so long, and please please PLEASE send me emails or letters or something and let me know what's going on in YOUR life: i love hearing from everyone! i'll talk to you later... brian
Bridgetown, Barbados bdaly334... some sort of societal tabboo, which amuses the kids. americans, on the other hand, at least of my generation, are encouraged to discuss sexuality openly and freely, and therefore don't see the sexual names as all that different, tabboo, or humorous. i don't know, that's one of my mini-sociological observations on barbados so far--let me know if you think that is feasible or if i'm just full of it) anyways, there are certain rules which we have to follow during the next week ...
