We are lucky to have a washing machine in our apartment to be able to do laundry. To dry the clothes, you hang out the window, clothespin the clothes to a wire, pulley the wire in, let dry, and then hang out the window later in the day to collect. This is one of the house chores the girls can't help with.

... it more personally except for the fact that in Sydney we met someone else who’d swapped with them, and they told us some stories, but said not to worry as they’d done thirty or so house swaps, and these were the only people they’d had problems with.

Our village, perched on a hill, is definitely one of the nicer ones around, and we look forward to settling in and exploring the area, and the problems with the house being behind us.
