... boarding the bus (poor maths skills on my count). The bus was surprisingly nice, air conditioned and leather reclining seats made the 8 hour journey pretty painless - unfortunately my muscle relaxant I took kicked in too late so by the time we grabbed dinner and a couple of drinks at Witch's Rock I was ready for bed. The next day we headed to the beach in the blistering heat, promptly got burnt and then enjoyed the Happy Hour cocktails ...

... funny and made it really enjoyable for us so we had a really good morning racing through the trees like Tarzan. At the end of the zip lining we headed to the little village for a tour to see a tribal group that still lived in the rain forest just outside La Fortuna. They were called Myans and looked after their community by selling souviners to tourists. They spoke a different language to Spanish which was even harder to ...

We hopped off the chicken bus at La Virgin and waitied for the subsequent bus to Peanas Banetas which ...

The last 30mins of the drive into Tamarindo were bone rattling and after an erroneous first up attempt to find our hotel, our second attempt was successful and it was straight into the hotel for a brief introduction about the place from owner Joey, a very laid back sort of dude from California whom we later discovered built the entire place himself, including the pool, very very impressive! He showed us up to our home for the next three nights and we were rather please with it; ...

      Waiting and worrying

A travel blog entry by afearonwood on Apr 06, 2013

... so much in frustration and worry that I had a migraine. It is difficult to correspond with the vet when all we have is the internet. Cell phones don't work here and it is difficult to find a payphone that isn't ripped out of the wall. I just want to go home - I am counting the days until we get out of this hole called Costa Rica. It is the worst vacation I have ever had and I will never return to Latin America again. Period. It is expensive (more ...
