The beach.

100km North of Brisbane roughly, We arrived here at about 8pm in the dark, having had difficult time navigating our way in the dark of the van with a torch, crummy map, and a compass, as Phil drove, to a place that we didnt actually know we were going to go till we got there.
We parked up, took a walk down the sandy beach in the dark, cooked some food, and then went to sleep, and woke to the most amazing river beach.

Having sorted out some stuff, like ...

Staring at the jacuzzi!!

... sea air under the shade of the palm trees. Sadly in my pasty state that's all it took for me to turn lobster.

We headed back up to our hotel room & returned to our couch potato positions & then after the sun had gone down I decided if I was too sick to get in I should at least be able to hang my legs in it, just staring at the jacuzzi.

So that was my holiday in the sunshine. Plenty of sunshine, but I couldn't go out into it to enjoy.
Gold Coast and Moreton Island

Back to Brisbane & Moreton Island

... by now the sun was setting, it looked gorgeous. Took lots of photos. We also found a beached starfish, we tried to throw it back but the waves kept bringing it back in, poor thing. We got some pictures with it though! On the way back to the tent Joe was crab hunting. It was hilarious, Michelle swooped them out of the sea and Joe was picking them up. He see's himselve as a pommy (he pretends he isn't) version of Steve Erwin. By the time we got back to camp ...

On the beach

... chilly before now although Will braved it many times! After a few hours lazing away our day we wandered round the town and found yet another Cold Rock ice cream place - be rude not to! We popped to the supermarket then headed back to camp to cook ourselves up a feast!

Another Moreton Island Adventure

Its been a crazy past couple of months and Laurie and I can't believe its been 6 months since we left home. Its actually Laurie and I's one year Anniversary coming up soon. It's going by so fast as usual. Once again thank god for being friends with Jano here in Australia because we headed over to Moreton Island again for the long "Queens Birthday" weekend. I've been meaning to white a new entry for some time now. Just been in a bit of a routine. Our friend ...

Noosa

... of the huge picture of Steve Irwin witha croc outside though. Instead stopped in Noosa which we'd heard loads of good things about. Also advised to stay at the YHA there which was great - a huge wooden colonial style lodge with huge verandas & free welcome drinks! Due to strict building regulations in Noosa, property is expensive & the town is really exclusive - real change to the made for ...

An End Before the End

... a week with Jane and Ian, and to eventually travel to Melbourne. The one positive thing resulting from all that has happened is that now I will be able to travel for several weeks, to see some of the continent, and still be back home in time for Christmas, which I am very excited about. For right now, though, I am perfectly content to go sit down on a comfy sofa and watch a good movie with family. May you all have the opportunity to do likewise in the very near future.

To Bribie - Night 26

My assignment this week was to do bush regeneration on Bribie Island, a large sandbar northeast of Brisbane. It would also be my first week with Team Leader Chris. We loaded the troupee for an 8am departure. Joining me this week would be Daniel, Hong, Han, Rex, Mark and Lena. The drive isn't far and after fighting Brisbane traffic for a bit, we crossed the bridge onto Bribie at around 9:30 am. The island itself is populated mostly by ...
