... return to Istanbul Our longest bus ride taking over 12 hours. We stopped in Ankara (the nations capital city) to look at the Ancient Civilisations Museum which gave us a clear idea of the historical periods of Turkey - such rich history! Day 10: a full day of sight seeing of Istanbul's Old City. I saw the truly magnificent Blue Mosque with intricate detail with Iznik tiling. Some photos on Stuart's facebook here - send me a note if you can't see them properly.

The Topkapi Palace is one of the must see destinations in Istanbul. It was the residence of the Sultans and their harems for hundreds and hundreds of years prior to the Dombalche Palace being built in the mid 1800’s. Truly wonderful architecture, tiling and mosaics, the grounds are extensive and just beautiful. On display in ...

... he took somehow brought us to a different place, with the same name though. A bit distraught I showed him the map (remember, there was no common language for communication), he stopped at a shop asked there, they gave him new directions, that brought us whilst listening to joyturk radio to yet another street with the exact name...but not any closer to Nicola's school. We stopped again. This time at a newspaper stand with a couple of ...
