    ... These are generously funded by the local commune and are very well attended. Last night there was a small group singing in those lovely old French songs that tell a story, with a very repetitive melody....but most of the crowd seemed to know all the words off by heart, and tapped along with big smiles on their faces. We mused that this is a particularly French phenomenon.

    ... m and 5 a.m. Aussie Steve reported there were ten trucks and that he even saw a machine washing the dustbins out. (There may be some exaggeration here).

    Every night there is to be an award of a cap and I won it on the first night due to my stoic suffering as my luggage was left behind at the hotel in Empuries and I had to miss aperitifs.

    ... 300 metres. I’m not sure if the clutch started to slip or whether the tyres just couldn’t find grip but something wasn’t quite right at one point. I’m now trying to decide if there’s a problem but touch wood she’s been ok since. One hill had a steepness sign of 30%!! That’s nearly 1 in 3..
