... zich recht zet en naar een boot gaat. Hij is de ferryman. We mogen aan boord en het varen zelf duurt maar een 10-tal minuten. De boot terug is elk half uur maar hoe we ook aandringen, niemand kan ons meer specifiek vertellen wanneer dat is. We rekenen zelf uit dat de boten waarschijnlijk telkens op het uur en op het half uur vertrekken uit Plaka en tien minuten later op het eiland zijn. We hebben dus een klein uurtje om het eiland te bezoeken.

... no real maps for Greece up until this point. We were surviving solely on bad free tourist handouts and the occasional Google maps where we could find wifi. So the night before Andrew had plotted out our route as best he could and had highlighted it on a free map app on his phone. Problem was that this map had no detail: no landmarks, virtually no street names and the ones that were named were completely in Greek.

We arrived in Crete almost two hours later yesterday due to some incident on the ship where someone fell,jumped, whatever overboard. No worries-- all our chicks were very safely tucked in their cabins! We did have one worry, though, one of our students luggage was filched off the baggage truck. ... so we will have to have round two of that.

As we were quite roasted from yesterday and the sun was burning down we stayed indoors for a bit doing admin etc. Our rather large dirty clothes bag came to mind so I asked Big Dora where we might do some laundry. Turns out apparently the closet one is in the town towards the beach and according to Big Dora “Must walk, only 20 minutes, yes yes you fine, go go”. Cool so off we set with the bag on our backs…at least ...

It was then time for round one of Aussie vs Saffa Ping Pong tournament – different code but I still won 2 games to 3!!

More roasting in the sun, a very relaxed arvo, dinner then another early night. All this chilling out really takes it out of you.

Tomorrow we hopefully have another game of tennis, possibly the beach before packing up and moving to our originally intended ...
