Having fled the hospital for a few days, I joined up with US Peace Corps for their Fourth of July celebrations up in Samana. I was instructed by my friend Yvette to approach any white person on the bus and they surely would be heading up for the same party. The tender looked a bit rough, but it's the lifeboat so good practice. Inside it's hot and a bit unpleasant but after about ten mins we headed off. Not the smoothest ride but not too long. Carl who had never played before and over the course of perhaps a couple
hours while we played I tutored him. Carl was a quick study and I think we
made a good team even though we didn't win. It didn't matter to me, I was

The day of our departure, we’re packed and ready to go. Flight is at 2pm, and it is 10:30am. I finally get a phone call from the wife. She’s at the doctor with Aaron. Verdict: fever down, lungs clear, ears clear, strep culture negative.
