One time vacation, maybe

... already know all the best spots!

We plan to visit Edinburgh before going onto London. As my husband is of Scottish heritage. I need MUCH advice on getting around Edinburg, Scotland without driving ourselve. We only have a few days before we head down to London so we would like to maximize our time there without being frantic

East Fife v Alloa Athletic - 5/12/2009

... but one side has nothing - it's just bare and exposing a monstrous building left from the time when the area mined coal from under the sea. I ask a guy sat next to me what the building is used for now and he tells me that it's going to be dismantled but requires a lot of money and asbestos specialists to take it down. The coastline will look ...

Now for some action..

... sundown we mosied off to the cinema to watch New Moon [murdering the adventurer in me once again..] which was.. *shudders* then just had a nice chillout in the train station until it was time to leave. My friends on the bus back, and me with the new friends on the warm train.

Nothing amazingly special, but it was a great day. And our new mates are coming over tomorrow for some more fun times! Gotta love travel. :)

Fun trip to Murrayfield for Scotland v Fiji.....lots of happy Scottish faces after the win, boys in fancydress, stag parties galore, chuc-chucs ferrying folks home in the rain, great cocktails in an Italian Jazz bar and running to catch last train back home on a busy busy Saturday night train heading South.

A Scottish Getaway

... in love with the Scottish Highlands and Skye. If anyone is thinking of visiting Scotland, we highly recommend it. The scenery was breathtaking.

We still love France but Scotland was a nice contrast. We also enjoyed a week of speaking english with everyone!!! Enjoy the pictures. Once again, I don't believe the pictures come close to capturing the true beauty.

Wait, which side is my lane?

... funny to the people standing (who somehow knew they shouldn't walk across the street yet) and the bus driver who was just trying to earn a few extra points! iyiyiy. Oh, and a great thing about Dublin is that the streets have large painted letters letting you know which way to look so that some tourist does not get hit... like us. what they do not paint on their streets, however, is that buses speed up and try to hit the tourists ...

Arbroath to Edinburgh

... and we wanted to return the rental car, so we canceled that reservation and went to the Hilton at the airport. The Hilton was cheaper. We returned the rental car, taking the keys to the desk in the airport. The guy at the desk circled my rental agreement, saying I should see a charge for 202£. We went back to the hotel for dinner. Julianne had an early (6 AM) flight Sunday, so we went to sleep rather early.

Final Days

This is it. I leave for the airport really really ridiculously early this morning. The middle of the night really, but that was my fault I guess. Not sure the reasoning of the decision at this point but there you have it. My last night in St. Andrews was great. My old bosses invited me over for dinner so we had a great evening drinking wine and just talking about lots of random things and playing with their dogs. It's always good ...

Adventures in Edinburgh!

... World's End." The food was wonderful--I ordered the World's End Famous Steak and Ale pie. MMMM... it was like a potpie/potroast, but the steak was marinated in ale. yummers. I also tried Haggis for the first time, and surprisingly, it was also very good. (It's a lot like meatloaf.) --Later Jenny asked what I thought of Haggis, and when I told her it wasn't bad at all, she said I was lucky to have tried it when it was actually done right! Dinner ...

Edinburgh (or Evil-burgh as the story goes)

... floor of a walk-up, and headed out to explore the New Town, across from the castle. We had a nice evening after joining up with our Australian friends from the Haggis tour (the pesky American unfortunately tagged along). We had been given directions to Wetherspoons, which had a steak special that night and it was not only a great deal but a great dinner. We went out for a couple of pints afterwards and watched the Liverpool-TNS football game in the pub. Good times. This was the last ...
