Crete, Chania (ps: that's the city) Whoppee, what an exciting place. WWEEELLL it was interesting. Actually we enjoyed it? WWWEEELLLLLL, we went there. The weather was nice. WWEELLLL it was a LITTLE cool. NO...NO.. it was a balmy 16C and sunny. There was not a lot to see there. We did visit a 500 year old synagogue. They had the oldest Mikvah in Europe. ... the young lady who is always on evening duty at the hotel. After a day of wandering & before I go off for dinner we settle down for a few games in between her looking after the guests. Last night after all her work done we went out together for dinner & drinks, was a lovely night with great live music. Now I'm packed & heading off for the overnight ferry to Athens soon. But first to pick up a few snacks, tzatsiki, dolmas, bread to have over a last game of backgammon.

... coissants, 2 small spinach & cheese pies, custard & raisin cake thing, & more in the basket I didn't try!
Once the two young lovers left the lighthouse I was the only one there, basked in the sun against the rock wall reading the newspaper.
Papers full of economic situation in Greece, it has been interesting to talk to people about the current position, the most common thing expressed is the shame ...

... levels of steps that once would have had towell clad bodies draped over them.
Although on a tight budget tonight ended up with 3 courses and absolutely full - AGAIN. Garlic bread just brought 'on the house' as was a semolina desert & just to finish me off a small jug of straight Ouzo - enough for 4 shots and it's only me ! No wonder I am having trouble fitting into my jeans - SOOO much food & drink every day.
