Keep your guard up staying here

these appartments are very very cheap and basic. We stayed for one week and that was by far to long. Yes I wanted an inexpensive week away for myself and my Fiance. but this was the pitts. All the Dunaflor wanted was ta fleece and squeeze every last Euro out of our hard working honest British holiday maker and his family's pockets. The secirity arrangements were diabolicle. Three chalets were robbed while we were there from 10/11/03 until 17/11/03 and the manager didnt give a **** until the people concerned threatened to fill in the national registar which is kept hidden away from the people it was meant to protect ("US") Be sure to ask for it if you have a need to, they wont give it to you lightly. If you want more advice or addresses of the people robbed call or Email me Iain on 01202-530868 Iain@fisher60.fsbusiness.co.uk or if you are interested in forming a group to protect people on holiday and to give advice just contact me on the above numbers. thanks for listening. Not great but good enough

I went here the last week of august 2003 with my wife and son of almost two years old. It's a nice family parc but the facilities were not great. It was good enough for staying here for one week. I believe it has been a very beautifull parc but it looks like there haven't been maintance the last few years. The people of the parc were very friendly and the neighbourhood is very beautifull. If you compare the price with the accomodation it's good. You have two sides at the parc, the green one, wich is not that busy and here are staying many Spanish people.

The other side is the blue side, this one is much busier and most of the people are German who are staying here. We liked the swimming pool very much, it's a nice pool, also for the kids.

arrived @ dunaflor at midnight couldnt find our room, when we found it, it was a tip facing a big ugly white wall with a big iron slamming gate. these apartments were extremely poor, do not recommend anyone to visit these apartments. pool was dirty, entertainment all one sided for germans. dont go!!!! be warned!!!!

      Great Time

Having read the reviews here before going to Dunaflor I was so worried as to what to expect, but we have just returned from a great holiday.

Yes the apartments are basic but they are comfortable and cleaned on a regular basis. As far as the divided complex goes, it is true one half is mainly german but any entertainment provided on that side we were always welcome to join in, and we did. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. the only thing we didnt like was the disco pub which catered mainly for younger people, there was no variety in the music.

The bar shut at 1.00am which was a little early and security was very strict about anyone sitting talking after it had closed, I do think they would need to consider an indoor bar for night time. On the whole we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and plan on going back next year around easter time.

Basic but good enough for the price

I've been there for a week in Feb 1999. Considering to go there again in 2004. Arrived there in early morning. Spent around 30 minutes at reception before moved to the apartment. The place is basic, but clean and very sufficient. Close to the beach, shopping and public transportation. I would recommend to stay at this place if you are not planning to stay at the hotel during the whole days, and want to save on lodging.

      Holiday Hell

My wife and I arrived on the "site" at approx. 7am after a late flight and were immediately put off by the reception area which to put it mildly was grubby. As I walk with the aid of a walking stick I was not pleased to be given a poor photocopy of the complex plan and told to go find our apartment. There were five couples including us and we kept passing each other and having to double back because of gates being locked. Eventually we joined up with two young couples and one young lad carried my holdall as he could see I was in difficulties. Still not having found our appartment after almost half an hour and my wife and I nearing exhaustion the young man who was carrying my holdall decided to go back to the reception and tell them that my wife and I were finding the walking about very difficult. He came back quite angry after being told to get on with it and find the appartments on our own. After about forty minutes we eventually found them but when we got inside we were even more distressed. The whole place was overrun with cats which looked more like vermin than house cats. They were all over the place and as we opened our door to enter the appt. they were trying to get in. They were climbing the trees onto the upper floors of some appartments. Now for the rooms themselves, what can I say, they were even more grubby than the reception. The floor tiles were cracked, the bath had stains and was patched with some blue compound. There were urine stains on the toilet floor, and dirt and dust hanging from the lights. The fridge was rusty and the whole effect was disgusting. The other couples felt the same and one couple opened the door to a flood of water. We didn't even unpack and although we were totally exausted by then, we wouldn't take the chance of lying on the beds. After comlpaining to the Airtours rep. who was very nice but of no help at all we were forced to upgrade to a hotel as that was the only choice she gave us. If we were to spend even one night at the Dunaflor we would have flown back home right away. The one word the place brings to mind is NIGHTMARE and I would never ever recommend it to anyone, even my worst enemy.

      Good for a base

Arriving at 2am was a joke, gardener attempted to show us to our rooms. first couple went around the block twice, at least we all got a laugh. appartment was bright and clean maid came in every day (very efficient), but facilitys were poor. were there for seven days, only had one cooking ring for six. With two young children this wasn't good as it took half hour to cook boiled eggs. Be aware when stating two bedrooms the hotel means two appartments. For families with young children this means being split. Spoken to other guests and all said the same that they weren't impressed with the lack on facilities in the appartments and especially the entertainment, which was meant to be shared between both sections. The hotel only put entertainment on in the full board section even though the notice board indicated differently. only one unfriendly staff member seen and self caterings side pool was great. Always sunbeds available: close to beach and close to shopping centres. Making a little effort to speak spanish went a long way with the locals who were always friendly and curious.

Dunaflor is split into two sides

One side for the Germans all inclusive and one side for anybody self catering. What entertanment ther was is on the all inc. side and if you were sc you couldnt use their bar, which means if you want a drink and entertanment you have to go out. The apartments were basic but clean, the maid came every day. A short walk to Playa de Ingles where theres plenty of life, 5-10mins walk to Faro2 plenty of choice foodwise and a nice little shopping centre.35mins from the beach and Dunes all in all a basic but plesent base to get out and about or just sitting and relaxing, nice for us but would'nt recommend to teenagers.

Cheap, basic but a great base!

Me, my husband and two teenage kids were there just before Christmas. The apartments were very basic but DIFFERENT - with the split level! Staff were VERY friendly and helpful - nothing was a bother. The cleaners came three times in the week and in between times gave towels etc. on request. We were half board and did not appreciate the choices of food - others did! BUT - YES - we would go back again. For the price Dunaflor was fine for us and in fact for another couple we met - we're talking of meeting up again in 2003! Bathroom - I will agree needed reburbished - but refurbishment had started but obviously they cannot do ALL apartments in a day! It was just a ten minute walk to Playa De Ingles Yumbo centre in the evenings - or a 1.70 taxi!! We had no problems with disco noise and had sunshine on our patio area. Yes there were people walking past but then again we did not pay for a private villa! In fact it was lovely to have this little "green garden" at your door - not like most other apartments which have nothing at the front. Pools were excellent - clean and loads of beds - never fighting for one! Chinese restuarant with egg fried rice like you've never tasted before - superb! Go see for yourself - what can you expect for the price! Basic but clean - what more can a buddy wish for - after all you're only sleeping in it - usually!

      Book at your peril

January 2003 - we have just returned from Maspalomas and were booked in the Dunaflor. After a long day travelling, arriving at 1pm we had to wait 2 hours for the rooms to be ready. For such a large complex, the reception is small, busy, grubby and has only one dingy, dirty unisex toilet - what a start. Our 2 floor apartment was spacious enough for two but the white tiling throughout gave it the atmosphere of a gents public lavatory. We were unlucky enough to have an apartment that never received direct sunshine neither in the AM or PM so breakfast or late afternoon tea on the patio was in shadow. Also, there is very little privacy if you sit on your patio as there is a constant flow of other residents walking by. The first night was sleepless as at 11.30 an onsite disco started up and kept on to the early hours. Forced to keep the windows closed so no fresh air in morning resulted in damp bedding , condensation on windows etc. Madness to even build a disco in such a populated complex. Both WC and bidet were cracked, shower poor, beds tiny and cheaply made. Decided after first day to upgrade to another complex as to stay there any longer would have completely spoilt holiday. Met one couple who had stayed there last year and was absolutely amazed that they had come back for more. We usually go to economy priced self catering places in the Canaries and have never before been disappointed but we would not ever stay in this place again even if it was free.

... 30 mintues. We parked and started the thike up the top. The hike was about 45 mintues to 1 hour. There were lots of poeple doing it. The wind was extremely hard and cold, but we still made it up. The Roque Nublo is an Earthcache, and we found 2 other Geocaches, 1 under the Roque and one at the beginnning of the trail. The view was very nice, altghough it seemed that were inside a mssive cloud for mot of the time.
