Today there is just some stones and other pieces of rubble but from what I imagined I think the palace would be really impressive especially for something that was built 4000 years ago. Unfortunately a British archeologist, Arthur Evans, in the 1900's found it and tried to recreate the palace how he thought it should be. Modern archeologists now think he got it a lot wrong. ... St Minas Cathedral - we'renot sure why Heraklion has 2 Greek Orthodox Cathedrals. St Minas is one of Greece's largest churches and has twin towers and a cruciform shape, unlike the other Greek Orthodox churches we've visited. It's a impressive building, both inside and out, and we liked it. The ceiling and upper walls are decorated in icons and there are 3 silver chandeliers (one is huge) but it has tall marble pillars and lots ...
