It's July 12th and we’re on our way to southern Maryland after spending a day and a half with our son Shawn and his family in New Bern, NC. I’m leaving with tears in my eyes, as this stop was way too short! I wish we could just go back and take them home with us!!

Although Shawn’s construction business is booming right now, he managed to take Thursday afternoon off and get a golf game in with his Pop ...

We visited my great grandparents grave to pay respects and to show the kids. I was ...

Rained all night, hot (75 degrees) and humid this morning. Drove across the bridge to New Bern looking for the post office - small branch which didn't open until 10:30. Ate breakfast, walked around Middle Street. A local pharmacy is where the formula for Pepsi-cola was developed. I checked out the Pepsi store but didn't ...

Monday was, in the words of Rick Steves, a "vacation within a vacation". We had lunch near the Capitol @ Big Ed's - BBQ brisket, slaw, squash and onions, butter beans, cornbread, biscuits, and great banana pudding. We hit Target, Macy's, and the Apple Store. Jan made dinner and we shared with her intern. A wonderful close to the evening was the Spring Concert at Jan's granddaughter's high ...
