After visiting many of our favourite places, and going back to Levkas for someone to view Kerenne we have arrived in Kastos. With a Force 5 blowing from the west there is some doubt about whether the anchor is holding but after taking it in a little all seems OK, fingers crossed.

... s how close we are!! There are lots of shops ..very nice ones ...much higher end than the usual tourist ones...but I'm sure this is a popular destination - altho I only saw one tiny place to stay?? Maybe they all stay in Olympia ..the main destination for this port. It's a 30 min. ride ...and was very doable with ...

... along the sea front through the local town. The road is covered in grit and pebbles probably from the recent storms, there are some very nice looking houses along here, we passed a lady who chatted to us in Greek, we didn't understand and she didn't speak any English. By the time we returned it was getting dark, we had tea and researched different ferry options, but didn't make a decision about which port to sail ...

Kastos Island harbour is Full up AGAIN

... been here a couple of times during our time in the Ionian Sea, but never been into the actual Harbour, which is very pretty and usually full. Once again we arrived and yep..it was full again. so no way could we go here. Oh well, another time.......maybe.

So, instead we decided to make our way to a favourite bay of ours, Spartachori on Meganisi island. We love it here, good food, lovely clear waters and usually other friends are around here too.

We drove up Mt. Olympus, first national park in Greece (1937). Incredible scenery as we ascended through the mists. Alternating pines and deciduous trees were beautiful. We had hoped to explore the Monastery of St Dionysiou but discovered it had been destroyed by German troops in WW2.
