We berthed at Kralendijk, Bonaire, The Dutch Caribbean about 7.00 am. We didn't get off until about 10.00. We were going to do a ships’ tour to a beach club, but couldn’t handle a couple of busloads of boat people. So, we just wandered around a bit and stopped for a couple of drinks at a bar over the water. This place is so flat and fairly small – 24 miles long and between 3 and ...

Kite launch scare and visit to Klein Bonaire

... of the kite, my toes are facing away from the kite and now my back is to the kite. I am still unable to ride a long distance this way. Instead, the kite just flies up to the zenith and the kite just makes me jibe in the other direction completely without trying! It is a slow transition but I am carving up in the other direction without my body getting in the water. it is a strange sensation of floating on my board as I make a U-turn. ...

... the same guy who rescued me one time on the boat and also our neighbor), bet me that if Mexico won, he would pump my kite for the remainder of my time on Bonaire. I agreed that if Holland won (he is Dutch, of course), I would treat him to lunch and dinner. The next day, at least for quite a few minutes, I was able to envision my kite being pumped. Alas, Mexico lost. The victory was not completely well earned...bad penalty call, I ...

Last week we kited almost every day in fairly strong winds. I lengthened Erika's lines at the beginning of the week. This was of course based on lots of feedback she received from lots of "helpful" folks while sitting ...

This afternoon 5 of us went back to our favorite: Tori's reef. Emily had missed the dive earlier this week as she was very congested and couldn't clear her ears so she asked if we could get her to her favorite site later in the week. As always, it was a good dive....and we saw our first turtle of the week: a young hawksbill turtle. I'm a sucker for the turtles, so it made my day!
