The washing was out on the sunshine before we had breakfast. After breakfast house keeping had a good clean in Dream Catcher, before going for a long walk on the beach. The beach is very long probably about a mile. The sand is grey and course with yellow patches and pebbly at the back. I removed my shoes because they were filling with as s as it was quite soft and deep in places. The course sand ...

The wind has dropped quite considerably overnight, but the noisy sea has kept us awake, I am craving some peace and quiet! We are heading for Zakros gorge today, an easy 7 kilometre walk, if the river isn't too full! It's well signposted and we parked up at car park A, next to another camper from Austria. ... and not very welcoming. We found a small cove to park for the night, there is definitely a storm brewing, the wind us getting stronger and there are occasional showers. The cove is very nice, there is a long beach in a tight curve with steep mountain sides at each end, the centre area is all olive trees leading up a gentle incline to the village which us about 5 kilometres away. There is one taverna which is closed up for the winter which has a small lake behind it and at ...

... the attractive harbour from the circular Vousismeni Lake who's shore is lined with cafes and restaurants. It wasn't far and we parked at the harbour and walked through the town to the others side where there was a marina. There were four campers parked in the marina car park, it must be a popular site for overnight stops. We walked through the marina, there appears to be more boats in dry dock than in the water. There are plenty of big yachts ...

... a handsome fishing harbour. There is also a causeway leading to Kolokytha Peninsular. There are also fine views of Spinalonga Island which was used as a leper colony from 1903 to 1957. We found a camping spot at the end of the village close to the causeway, we went for a walk onto the Peninsular passing some windmills in various states of disrepair. There was a finger post with various things to see and distances to them, we decided to walk to them tomorrow, as ...
