I have figured out that the great weather in California is a myth perpetuated by the travel and tourism departments here. I will never fall for that again. Never visit here the first two weeks of September..
we drove 112 miles, but walked not too much. We did a lot of the items on the list of things to do. Susan had a great time, most of the time, on her finale.
... never ceases to amaze with its sheer range of choice and the quality of the food on offer. It actually made a pleasant change not to eat out and we had a lovely spag bog in our apartment before again retiring to bed fairly early. We're more or less over our jet lag, but our busy days mean that our nights are still fairly early. We've decided to have an easy morning on the beach tomorrow and then go into San Diego in the afternoon and evening...it promises to be another great day ...

When we go to the beach I was surprised to find a large free public parking area right next to the HUGE dog beach. It was several football fields of white sand and dogs could run off leash. We saw surfers catching some big waves. We all must be getting old because Dave was not feeling going surfing, and Abby and Scrappy were not feeling running around ...
... Union station was amazing, it's an Art Deco place with wonderful architecture and huge leather armchairs - beautiful. We were allocated seats upstairs on the train, we only had 'coach' but I've never seen anything like it - so much leg room & you pull a lever & it's a bed almost, well it does go all the way to Seattle, no idea how long that takes - our trip is 8 hours! The ride is great but although you know Southern California is a desert it ...
