Historical Traveler Reviews Deer Ridge Mountain Resort Gatlinburg
Deer Ridge IS The Best View of the Smokies
Our family reunion at Deer Ridge in late July 2004 was outstanding. Driving out of Gatlinburg we kept our eyes open for our destination but we're totally flabbergasted by the amazing mountainside resort which appeared above us. "That can't be it, can it?" we remarked. But it was. Entering and driving through the beautiful golf course in the valley below, prepare yourselves for a steep drive up to the resort itself where you truly will find "The Best View of the Smokies". Our party of 30+ stayed in almost every type of accommodation available: 1 bedroom condos, 2 bedroom condos, and 1 bedroom with loft. All were remarkably clean, well-equipped for every need (including paperbacks by the fireplace), and awesome balcony views. We also enjoyed our evening meals as a group in the pavilion. The club house, with indoor pool, hot tub, pool table, and a magnificent deck, was close and relaxing. We adults especially enjoyed the "no kids" swimming ater 11 pm. From the resort base we enjoyed trips for white water rafting and tubing. Although some of us chose to do town things like the aquarium and shopping, mostly we enjoyed the nature and its offerings. All this for the modest price of $100-120/night thanks to Deer Ridge's special discount for family reunions. How great is that! The same vacation at Mackinac in my home state for far more modest accommodations would run $175+ per night. Believe me, when we're ready to return to the Smokies, we'll head for Deer Ridge Mountain Resort.
1st Family Reunion
We stayed at the Deer Ridge Mountain Resort it was a very nice place. High in the Mountains, about an hour from Gatlinburg. Beautiful scenery. One draw back was if you just wanted to stay on the mountain , you needed to bring food with you. There is a catering service for large groups. The other draw back (I guess that it is state wide) is the little black bugs. They were very persistent. All in all, we had a great reuion and would probably go back another time.
My Family loved Deer Ridge Mountain Resort
This was an excellant place to stay for my family. It was clean, quiet and a great place to get away from the busy city of Gatlinburg. There was lots for the kids to do and the VCR rental was very nice. The outside play area was clean as was the pool and game room area. We had a 1 BR Loft condo and had plenty of room for 2 adults and 3 kids.
Best View in the Smokies
Deerridge has one of the best views in the Smokies. Not only does it have a great view it is a wonderful place to stay. It offers a heated pool, steam room, jacuzzi, sauna, game room for the kids, tennis, playground, and a short nature hike. The staff is out of this world.
They go the extra mile to make sure your stay is great. We stayed in a 2 bedroom/2bath and had lots of room (more than a motel room). We loved where it was located away from the hustle and bustle. When we wanted the hustle and bustle we were only minutes away. I would highly recommend Deerridge.
Love the resort
My wife and I have stayed at Deer Ridge twice in the last 6 months. We love it, easy to get to from interstate 40 without going through the crowds. Is close enough to Gatlinburg to really enjoy if you want to.
Loved the Deer Ridge Mtn Resort
My church group wanted to get away to Gatlinburg for the New Year's and it seemed as though everything was booked up. At the last minute, there were openings at the Deer Ridge Mtn Resort. All I can say is when we pulled up it was amazing. The view was incredible and the rooms were gorgeous. Nothing like clean, mountain air to clear your head. We will definitely make a trip back to that resort.
Favorite Destination in the Smokies
We, along with friends, have been vacationing in the Great Smoky Mountains for over 30 years. Deer Ridge Mountain Resort has now become our favorite destination! It's close enough to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge to enjoy the shopping, dining and theaters, but also a quiet retreat to the solitude and beauty of the mountains. The staff goes out of their way to make your stay enjoyable, the rooms are very clean and comfortable, and the view is breathtaking!
Best View of the Smokies
Our family has stayed at Deer Ridge Mountain Resort several times during the past few years. It truly has "the best view of the smokies!" We stayed in a one bedroom with a loft (a second bedroom) and it was perfect for our family of four (they are on the top floor with a better view). The indoor recreation area (heated pool, hot tub, sauna, steamroom, and gameroom) was very relaxing after a day of hiking in the National Park. The resort is close enough to Gatlinburg (9 miles) but far enough away to enjoy the peace and quiet. We recommend this resort highly !!!!
Great place to relax
We have stayed at Deer Ridge Mountain Resort several times, and have found it to be consistently well-kept, and just a great place to relax.
We enjoy the beautiful view from the balcony, the clean mountain air, and the freedom from noice and commotion. The resort is close enough to Gatlinburg and all the hustle and bustle if we want to participate, but generally we just want peace and quiet.
Bottomline: Deer Ridge is a great value.
My buddies and I go on a yearly golfing excursion to Gatlinburg, Tn and we always stay at Deer Creek condos. Very reasonable rates, and the most beautiful scene of the Smokies as far as my wife and I are concerned.

Our last stop has been Gatlinburg, TN. We enjoyed our visit to the Dixie Stampede and Dollywood. Jim looked all over the place, high and low but never saw Dolly! We ran into the Compton's from Lexington who happened to be here too. We enjoyed having dinner together with Ben, Suzanne, Charlie and Nancy. It was nice to have friends to enjoy a meal with again.

We were in have beauty and serenity of the Great Smokey mountains, enjoying the peace, stillness and quiet expecting to come down into a small, sleepy hollow. Nothing could be further from the truth! The map failed to mention that it should have been named because if you walked the trail, you were bound to get lost yourself. I went off the trail and found the coast of the water. Not a typical beach, but it was nice to dip my toes in. Once we found our ...
